Emergency

Anyone in need of emergency healthcare will receive care. In life-threatening situations, call 113 for ambulance assistance.  The emergency ward at Storgata 40 is always open. At night (22.00-08.00) only major ailments will be treated.

Free healthcare services

Sex og Samfunn is a center for sexual and reproductive health for young adults. It is open from Monday to Thursday for everyone under the age of 25. You can get free consultations on drop ins Monday to Thursday 4 pm to 8 pm. You can also book an appointment on 22 99 39 00, the line is open Monday to Friday 9 am to 3 pm. Address: Trondheimsveien 2, building B.

Health center for people between 13 and 23 years – HFU is a free healthcare service for young people. There is at least one health center in each district, and the age limit may vary. Most clinics are for young people between 13 and 23 years.  You can talk with nurses, psychologists and physicians confidentiality.  Do you need information on addresses to your nearest HFU? Health center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. This is a free service for people between 13 and 30 years old. This is the place to go if you want someone to talk about body, gender, identity, sexuality, love and how you define yourself. You can also test yourself for sexually transmitted diseases and take quick HIV-tests. Address: Mailundveien 23. Opening hours: Wednesdays 4 AM -7 PM for drop-in.  Book an appointment on weekdays 8 am to 5pm.

Folketrygden

Membership of the Norwegian Insurance Scheme

The public social security system in Norway is called the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme (folketrygden). To be entitled to benefits, you must be a member of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme. As a general rule all persons resident in Norway are members of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme. If you have any questions about membership of “folketrygden”, contact your local NAV office.
